California born Singer/songwriter Kurtis Shaver has the gift to convey a ton of emotion in a few little lines of a song. Painting a picture in your mind with every lyric line while opening your heart to every emotion. This Concord native has the unique ability to blend 80's style Rock and alt. Country into an incredible thrill ride that you will want to ride over and over.
Kurtis was born with music in his blood, at an early age he gravitated towards music, listening and singing along every chance he got. He knew he wanted to become a singer after seeing Elvis on TV live in Hawaii. He started writing song lyrics in junior High with a friend of his who got him interested in the drums. Kurtis took up the drums and started an 80's rock band named Tangled Web that later changed to Jaded Heart and they played a few gigs in the East Bay/San Francisco area.
Kurtis has always loved the folkier side of music and started writing more in that direction. After playing around in a few cover bands he recorded his first CD called "Parcae" that had a lot of different musical styles on it. But playing out live in support of "Parcae" gave him a clear understanding of the direction he wanted and needed to go, Country/Rock all the way. He got the writing bug and started writing for the next CD, all Country/Rock.
Kurtis spent the good part of the last year working with Producer/Engineer Michael Rosen on his latest EP "Long Road". With an arsenal of incredible musicians and clear focus in the studio he put down six awesome tunes that encompass the country rock genre that he was going after. The Musicians on the EP include long time friend Jimmy Corkery- Guitars and backing vocals, Mike Vanderhule (of Y&T) - Drums/Percussion, John Nymann (of Y&T) - Guitars, Myron Dove (Santana) - Bass, Phil Bennett (Starship) - Keyboards, Philip Brezina (The Brother Comatose) - Fiddle and Josh Yenne - Pedal Steel. Kurtis plans on playing out all over, bringing his songs to life in every place he plays. He's working on a new band to support this effort and also play some more intimate stripped down shows acoustically. For Kurtis it's all about experiencing the music live, in the raw. Putting it all out on the the stage, giving his all in every performance is what to expect when you see him live. Plan on seeing big things from this rising Country star.
